Subsidised Weddings
The Council is pleased to offer a subsidy to those who are poor, earn below the average wage or for any other reason of financial constraint are unable to afford the expense of a large wedding.
Srimatham in Blacktown will provide the venue which can accomodate up to 50 guests. All the materials and ingredients for the wedding will be provided free of cost and the dakshina for the chosen priests will be paid by the Council. Clothes, jewellery and food will not be provided, but take-away can be arranged from one of the local Indian restaurants. The registration of the marriage will also be done without cost to the couple.
To avail yourself of this service please write to the secretary stating your circumstances and the reasons for your predicament and your application will be given due consideration.
